This class will introduce you to all aspects of screen acting. You'll be breaking down scripts and doing mock auditions for commercials, films, corporate videos, tv shows, and more. On-camera improvisation and monologues will also be covered. After mastering the basics of on-camera acting, expert guest instructors will take over to get into the intensive aspects of script work.
You'll take in a broad reach of material by various industry players and, after 6 weeks, you'll leave the class feeling confident and ready to take the next step into booking acting work.

Jennifer Salvucci is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and has been a professional actress and acting coach in the Los Angeles area for six years prior to returning to the Boston area. She holds BFA in Theater Performance from Chapman University, with an emphasis on acting for the camera. She has collaborated on many original musicals and has served as director, vocal coach, stage manager, and choreographer for several Los Angeles based theater companies. For the past 4 years, Jennifer has been teaching on-camera acting at Boston Casting.

EVERY actor needs to take an Improvisation class. It is KEY in building confidence, creativity, the ability to think on your feet, to develop and maintain a character, and in stripping you of inhibitions!
In this beginner class, you will be taught the groundwork for solid actor training. Through basic acting and improvisational techniques, you will begin to understand and develop the skills needed to work as an actor. Your body, voice, intellect, and imagination are the tools of the craft and learning to use them properly and skillfully is the journey and the goal of the performing artist. Utilizing relaxation and visualization, movement and play, trust and intimacy, and spontaneity and discipline, we will open the actor's toolbox and prepare you for the world of the performing arts.
Peter Berkrot is a prominent acting coach working in Boston and on the North Shore. His acting, film, voice, and playwriting classes have been offered at the New York Film Academy, Northeastern University, Bradford College, Boston Casting, Kevin Fennessey Casting, Outcasting, and The Tannery in Newburyport. He is also an accomplished actor, director, and writer in the Boston area.

Get your acting skills up to speed and audition with confidence! In this class, we work on your technique in front of the camera. The camera plays an essential role in the life of any serious actor, and you must learn how to acknowledge it, work with it, and then forget about it. You will have the opportunity to work on monologues, scenes, commercials, and corporate videos. You might find that you favor one more than the other, or do well with all four. This class will give you the skills to perfect your craft while facing down one of the most intimidating pieces of machinery ever created.
Originally from New York, Michael Fennimore has spent the past 20 years performing in the Boston area. Since 2001, he has proudly served as the president of the New England Screen Actors Guild. His television and commercial credits include "Spenser: For Hire," "Against the Law," "Unsolved Mysteries," New England Toyota, Brooks Pharmacy, Stop and Shop, Boston Gas, McDonalds, and the New England Patriots. He joined the company of the Charles Playhouse's Shear Madness in 1986 and currently is the artistic director. He has also performed and directed Shear Madness at the Allen Theatre in Cleveland, Broward Art Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Learn all about the voice-over business, from technique to marketing and everything in between. This class will prepare you to audition for all sorts of voice over productions such as commercials, narrations, book readings, public service announcements, etc. Through the audio recording of mock auditions you do in class, you will learn how to properly deliver voice over copy. You will also learn the ins and outs of breaking down and reading scripts on your own, preparing for auditions, proper studio etiquette, putting together a demo tape and sending it off, marketing yourself, and more!
Sonny Dufault has been in the voice-over business for 36 years. He got his start as a DJ for two local radio stations before becoming a production engineer at Continental Recording Studios, where he also began doing voice work. He later joined Soundtrack Studios as the chief production engineer and manager, eventually leaving to concentrate on his VO business. He currently owns and operates his own 'in-house' studio where he voices and produces radio spots, commercials, and industrials, as well as produces demo tapes for aspiring voice artists. Sonny also currently works as a booth announcer at WBZ Radio.

Think stifling your Boston accent is wicked hahd? Think again! With Boston Casting's new Accent Reduction course you'll acquire the skills to speak and perform in auditions with a neutral, non-regional accent, expanding your range of casting opportunities. This four-week course will focus on diction and will target r-controlled vowels and other sounds specific to the Boston area accent. You'll learn to switch your accent on and off through a variety of dictation and listening activities, as well as readings of sound-loaded paragraphs, monologues and scripts, so you can nail any audition. Avoid being typecast again!
You'll also come out of the course with a comprehensive handout of training activities for independent practice, and a taped before-and-after reading so you can see the difference for yourself.
Marjorie Feinstein-Whittaker, M.S., CCC is a speech-language pathologist, and recognized leader in the field of accent modification. She is a regular contributor to numerous professional publications, and presents at ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) and TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) conferences throughout the year. She provides individual and group training, as well as workshops to area clients including The MathWorks, Partners Healthcare, EMC Corporation, Cabot Corporation and others. She is the co-author of numerous accent training programs including: RULES (Rules for Using Linguistic Elements of Speech),Medically Speaking RULES, RULES By The Sound, and Medically Speaking Idioms. This process-oriented improv classes will begin simply, using non-verbal cues and exercises designed to boost spontaneity and confidence. The emphasis will NOT be on performance but on listening, observation and the ability to live in the moment. Working alone, in pairs, and in groups, student actors will find the joy and a new perspective of soaring along without the restraints of text while making intimate connections on stage.
This class is appropriate for intermediate to advanced actors and any student that has taken Beginning Acting/Improv for Adults.

The Scene Study class is all about perfecting a scene. It offers a "complete actor's workout" for those who are serious about improving their acting skills and developing specific tools and highly effective approaches to scene work. The class will ingrain script break-down, character development, motivations, blocking, and prop use in your "actor's tool box"! The skills learned in this class are transferable between ALL forms of acting, including film and television.
This class is unique from other scene study courses in that its primary focus is on the in-depth exploration of the actors' process.
Fran Weinberg has taught Boston Casting's scene study class for the past six years. She is one of the Boston area's best-known private acting and audition coaches, as well as a teacher, workshop leader, and an award-winning director. Fran's clients attend and are graduates of the country's top undergraduate and graduate performance programs. They can be seen on-and off-Broadway, in films and television, and on stages throughout New England and across the country. She received her Masters degree in Theatre from Emerson College where has been a member of the performing arts faculty, as well as at Stonehill College, where she also served as a guest director.
