Congresswoman Maxine Waters Says Congressional Democrats Will Wage Fierce Battle against Proposed Draconian GOP Budget Cuts

Says Dozens of Vital Programs for the Working Class and Low Income Are in Deep Peril

Congresswoman Maxine Waters appearing on The Hutchinson Report News Talk Show on Pacifica

Radio on Saturday, January 5 hosted by political analyst Earl Ofari Hutchinson warned that she and other ranking Congressional Democrats will vigorously oppose proposed draconian slashes by GOP House members to vital programs for working persons and the needy. Waters is the ranking Democrat on the powerful House Financial Services Committee. She said that the GOP proposals would eliminate or drastically slash funding for Head Start, HIV AIDS Prevention, home and apartment heating subsidies for the low income persons, child nutrition, and job and skills training programs. The cuts would further impoverish and harm millions of persons.

"Congresswoman Waters made it clear that the fiscal cliff fight was only a prelude to the far bigger battle that will be waged in Congress over the GOP's proposed draconian spending cuts that will devastate millions," says Hutchinson. She made it equally clear that she and other Congressional Democrats will lead a fierce fight in Congress against them."
